1900s
The Lombardo family began its legacy of fine restaurants in 1934. After immigrating to the United States from Sicily in the early 1900s, Angelo Lombardo, Sr. opened a small fruit and vegetable stand on the corner of Riverview and West Florissant in North St. Louis.
1934
In 1934, Angelo expanded the family business by opening a small restaurant. Lombardo's famous toasted ravioli helped the modest family business prosper.
1965
In 1965, the produce stand was torn down to make room for a newly renovated and larger building that was home to Lombardo's Restaurant. Operated primarily by Angelo's three sons, August, Carmen, and Angelo, Jr., the restaurant featured an extensive menu of appetizers, pastas, chicken, steak, and seafood entrees. Over multiple generations, Lombardo’s Restaurant became a favorite dining and meeting spot for many St. Louisans.
1991
In 1991, Carmen's three children, Michael, Anthony, and Karen, opened Lombardo's Trattoria in the Drury Inn next to Union Station. Just one year after opening the restaurant, the Lombardo's were honored to serve President George Bush, Sr. along with his family and cabinet members following the St. Louis Presidential Debate. Since then, it has become a hot spot for musicians such as Paul McCartney and Drake. Comedians like Adam Sandler, and a long list of celebrities when they travel to Saint Louis.
1993
In 1993, the original restaurant at Riverview and West Florissant moved to a beautiful, new building across from Lambert Airport.
2000
Continuing the tradition of fine dining, Michael, Anthony, and Karen opened Carmine's Steak House located in the Drury Plaza Hotel near the Gateway Arch. The restaurant’s name is in honor of their father, Carmen Lombardo.
The Lombardo family would like to thank everyone for their loyal patronage. It has been our pleasure serving the Saint Louis area for over 90 years. We look forward to creating more memories with you in the years ahead.
